• 1 cup pecan halves

• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 3/4 cup (12 Tbsp) salted butter, softened

• 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar

• 1 large egg, at room temperature

• 3 tbsp Canadian maple flakes

• 3 tsp pure vanilla extract

• Cinnamon sugar, for dusting (1/4 cup sugar + 1 tsp ground cinnamon)

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven:

Preheat your oven to 300°F.

2. Toast Pecans:

Toast pecan halves until fragrant. Let them cool, then finely grind them in a food processor.

3. Prepare Dry Ingredients:

In a bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, maple flakes, baking powder, and salt. Add the finely ground pecans to this dry mix.

4. Brown the Butter:

In a pan over medium-high heat, brown the butter, stirring constantly. Once browned, let it cool to room temperature.

5. Cream Butter and Sugar:

In a mixing bowl, whip together the browned butter and packed brown sugar until creamy.

6. Add Egg and Vanilla:

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamy mixture. Whip until light and fluffy.

7. Incorporate Dry Ingredients:

Gradually add the dry ingredients in thirds, mixing until fully incorporated.

8. Chill Dough:

Chill the cookie dough for at least two hours.

9. Roll in Cinnamon Sugar:

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Scoop the chilled dough into cinnamon sugar and roll until fully coated.

10. Bake Cookies:

Place cookies a nonstick baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes or until the edges are golden.
